Challenge

San Rafael ’71 is a reference to the believed origins of the term “4:20”′′ in cannabis culture: in 1971, a group of high school students in San Rafael, California, would meet at 4:20 p.m. as part of a plan to search for a marijuana crop rumoured to be hidden in their town. While the crop was never found, the story lives on.

Solution

TI Group produced 4:20 specific collateral including a series of 24″ x 36″ posters for participating retailers inside their age-gated premises. The program also included a digital display video, one-of-a-kind countdown clock and a classic 70’s rock album with custom sleeve.  We ran production on both LFD (Large Format Digital) and our HP Indigo Digital Press, with incredibly consistent colour matching across the entire program, thanks to our G7 Master Facility qualification.

Results

Aurora wanted to celebrate Canada’s first legal April 20th in a big and memorable way. 4:20 has come to signify the progress the world has made on cannabis legalization and decriminalization. 2019 saw Canada as the first G7 country, and only the second country in the world, to celebrate a plant that is legal for recreational use.
